Keep on eye out for Kimi-Sue and her offspring at Laurel Ridge Alpacas. She is the first offspring of our foundation dam My Sweet Tiramisu -- and half sister of our AutumnSun's Sweet Patriotic Song.

The anticipated offspring of our award-winning My Sweet Tiramisu and Fossil Ridge Alpacas' outstanding herdsire Rumaki is a beauty! She was born at 19.2 lbs and looked to be even bigger. Those present at her birth commented on her long staple length. And, she already showed evidence of tight corkscrew crimp that promised excellent fiber characteristics -- and paid off!

At 4 mos old, she was 65 lbs! At 10 mos old, she was 100 lbs! At just under a year, she was over 110lbs. She is solid and healthy girl, and she wants to breed now! What a flirt! She will breed this fall.

Her fiber staple length and density are awesome, without sacrificing luster, fineness, and crimp. Take a look at her fleece pictures and her fiber statistics/ histogram! Can you believe over 5 lbs of cria fleece!! As you can tell we are impressed with this fineness, staple, and character. We know that these qualities should be in any white or color breeding program.

She takes after her dam with her wonderfully sweet, approachable, and loving personality. This heritable trait is indespensible for handling and care of our dams. Kimi-Sue will surely pass this to her cria as well. She combines the genetics of both parents for a prepotent triad of fiber qualities: Hemingway, Caligula, and Royal Fawn.

This is truly a special girl that deserves a pivotal place in a foundation breeding program. We are sorely tempted to reserve her for our herd, but realize that we need to continue to diversify our herd genetics as part of our program.

2008 GWAS - We received impressed comments before and after the showing - including from other non-working judges. But unfortunately, with 52 juvenile white females (divided) from farms from across the country, our girl did not secure a ribbon. However, we are not upset. We remain convinced that K-S is the kind of alpaca that we want, and that you'll want in your herd. Ask us for more information and a fiber sample!
