The results came back from the skin biopsy which are very favourable:
Below is a write up from Jim Watts, MV. Sc, Ph.D:
He is a rather special male!!!
Jim Watts analysis:
The 14 month old alpaca, FDA Rembrandt, has high levels of fiber density and fiber length. The density reading of 67.7 follicles per square millimeter will be lower when the animal reaches mature body size, but not sufficient to alter the fact that it is a ... |

This girl has the looks and the bloodlines to positively hold her own in the breeding program and show ring..... Val impressed the judges and competition in her first show, placing 2nd out of 7 but being named the finest in the class by the judge!
She is a big girl, well built and definitely not wanting at the dinner table. She was an excellent mom, attentive, birthing and breeding easily (she doesn't spit off -- she gives terrible looks and strolls off), and nursing well.

Super dense, very bright, fine and crimpy. He is only at this price since we have his dam and siblings and need to make room in the 'boy pens'. Love this boy's good conformation and excellent fiber. He would even be a great breeder for a program that needs to bring higher caliber fiber qualities to a new color herd. But on our farm, we have those dark colored herdsires with the fineness, crimp and density, so Armour is just not getting a break.
Congratulations to Lynn Betts of Tejas Alpacas for her purchase of Armour. He will be a great addition!

- Our Rembrandt boy, AutumnSun's Man in Armour, was able to stay in the ring for his 6th place win among 8 very nice white and light fawn juveniles in the B&O class. With his tangled and somewhat cotted tui tips we were pleased. The judge commented that he was the youngest in the class and was a pleasure to look at with his soft handle and fineness. We hesitated in bringing him due to to the condition of his cria fleece but believed his fiber would shine through at his skin. And it did!
