When this male arrived on our farm after having been recently shorn at his birth farm, we a bit shocked to see that they had sheared him to the skin everywhere except his topknot, and that they had cut back. So, now over a year later, we are finally seeing the 'Marquis' of his youth in his recovering fleece coverage. What we did see right away was just how deliciously soft Marquis felt, like royal velvet, to the touch. And, he showed rolling of his skin at his neck -- often demonstrative of i... |

Tira was one of the original gems of our herd, refined and elegant but tough enough to be an awesome mom! You could not refute the inner brightness and shine of her healthy fiber that imparted excellent handle to this day. Her fiber length was great and her density awesome -- where other farms often asked if she had been sheared early for more than one year of growth! This density impressed the judges in the show ring.

What a great look this boy has -- upright and regal, moving smoothly and confidently. It helps that he has rich dark brown, like chocolate, that glows with a nice warm shine. But this brown coloration hides his grey heritage from his sire, an Orlando Cloud son. Tyson is well covered with good fineness and density, a broader but consist crimp and soft handle.
We have his parents and need to make room. I love his personality, a trait passed on from his dam, as well as his richly colored fiber. As he matures and fills in he shows a robust, macho frame that pairs nicely with his fiber qualities and easy personality.

I love this boy's good conformation and excellent fiber. He just doesn't have the bundling needed to compete in the show ring. He would even be a great breeder for a program that wants to augment their dark and grey genetics, as well as his fiber uniformity, fine handle and crimp. But on our farm, we have several dark colored herdsires with the fineness, crimp and density, his dam and sire, and several siblings, so Tyson still is not getting a break. At this price he is worth the chance!
So, if he doesn't sell at this crazy low price this year, we will take him off the sales and move him to our fiber herd, though this regrettably will mean gelding him. His fiber is too good to pass up. Hope you will look at this boy for your breeding program as he deserves before then, but either way, this boy is a 'keeper'.
