Ryder is a great addition to a herd. He is a well-balanced male with a show record proving his fiber and conformation qualities. Amanda Van den Bosch had agreed that Ryder was of herdsire quality, awarding Ryder second place at the 2006 GWAS Yearling Dark Brown Class and providing very positive comments about his attributes.

Ryder has the bloodlines and fiber be an asset to any breeding program. Ryder hails from the Royal Fawn son Show Me the Money and dam Snowmass Ruby Moonlight, a color foundation dam from Snowmass Alpacas. This lineage gives him the unmistakable benefits of fleece density, crimp and strong/large bones.

Even more so, his personality is such a relief and pleasure to be around. He 'keeps the peace' in our big boy paddock but isn't aggressive. Ryder is confident and proud, but respectful & easy to handle on the lead. He can easily be restrained and/or led with a neck cradle hold, even with girls around! We use him to spit check even if he isn't the service sire. You could not ask for a better balance of personality traits in a herdsire.

Ryder moves easily and confidently, strong in bone and balanced in frame. His bite is good in his archetypical head style with large spear-shaped ears. He has robust width of chest and hip girdles for a macho male that passes his healthy conformation to his offspring. He has a spring-y dense blanket, long in staple, with fantastic coverage down his legs and on his head.

He makes colored cria with lovely fiber and great conformation! We lost his first cria, a bay black from a brown dam due to illness, but he was as shiny and soft as Ryder's 2009 cria, Vanilla Breezes. Vanilla has very fine, bright, long, and luxuriously soft fiber. It is a joy to spin! Vanilla produced one of our best girls, Provenance, so we know this breeding line is robust. Even though we now have a herdsire row that is loaded with quality all contending for breedings, we repeated this breeding of Ryder to Cee Jae for another 'vanilla breezes' in 2014.

At this point with the notable bloodlines of his lineage heavy in our herd, we are ready to let him go. It is with reservation that we do this, since he is such a great male, so we are only doing this with the mindset that moves to a start up farm to 'help them out' like he has helped us. He's a fantastic male and overall good package to start or round out a farm's stud row. He has many years left and really should be used more, but we are willing to let this boy retire gracefully on our farm.
